  1. fact #1The Lincoln Memorial was designed by Henry Bacon; the style is that of a Greek Doric temple with 36 enormous columns. Inside the building is a huge statue of a sitting Lincoln. Over Lincoln's head is the inscription.

    fact#2 On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King, Jr., made his "I Have a Dream" speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial (the speech was delivered on the landing 18 steps below Lincoln's statue); there is now an inscription on the step where Dr. King stood, commemorating that historic event. Dr. King was speaking at the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.

  2. It is an 99 foot tall staute. It was built to so Lincoln some respect for putting a stop to slavery. So for him doing that they have built that building. It was also known for where Dr.Martin Luther King Jr.made his "I have A Dream " Speech

  7. The Lincoln Memorial is a building that was built in the honor of the President Abraham Lincoln. It is located in Washigton DC.

  8. Fact1 The Lincoln Memorial commemorated the life of Abraham Lincoln our 16th president of the US.

    Fact2 The memorial was designed by Henry Bacon. It had 36 enormous columns. In the building, Lincoln is sitting with this saying over his head: "IN THIS TEMPLE AS IN THE HEARTS OF THE PEOPLE FOR WHOM HE SAVED THE UNION, THE MEMORY OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN IS ENSHRINED FOREVER."

    Fact3 The Gettysburg Address is in the Memorial as well as Lincoln's second inaugural address.

    Fact4 The memorial was sculpted by Daniel Chester French. The statue is over three times its actual size because if it could stand up, it would be 28ft tall!

    Fact5 The Lincoln Memorial is pictured on the reverse side of the US penny and US five dollar bill.

  21. 1. The Lincoln Memorial was dedicated in 1922 and was attended by Lincoln’s only living child, Robert Todd Lincoln.
    2. When Dr. Martin Luther King Jr gave his famous “I Have A Dream” speech there in 1963, police appreciated the location since the the monument is surrounded by three sides by water so any ‘incident’ could have been easily contained.
